cairns gateway to the great barrier reef & tropical rainforest
Cairns is located in Far North Queensland in Australia and our climate is tropical, with a dry winter season and a hot monsoon summer.
Average temperatures in the summer time from December to March range from 32º during the day to 23º at night and winter temperatures in July to August range from 25º to 16º at night. We are located on the waterfront and surrounded by hillsides, which makes the area very attractive.

Cairns has a large International Airport and a major seaport, and is the gateway to many attractions and destinations. We are known as the city where the "Rainforest meets the Reef".
Tourists and locals alike enjoy time snorkelling or diving on the Great Barrier Reef from one of the many cruise and dive ships that travel to the outer reef and islands off the coast.
Other pastimes include walking through the World Heritage listed Wet Tropics Rainforest, driving to the cool mountain air of the Atherton Tablelands or to Port Douglas to spot one of the many famous movie stars and world figures at play. Others enjoy relaxing on one of the many tropical sandy beaches north of the city, sailing and boating on the inlet or out to the reef, a game of golf at one of the many courses in the area, rafting the rapids, shopping in the city or one of the number of large shopping malls or trying their hand at the gaming tables at the Casino.
The population of the Cairns region is approximately 120,000. The City of Cairns has many types of accommodation and restaurants, catering for all tastes and pockets for both the budget conscious and also those looking for five star.
We have many first class facilities and schools including a campus of the James Cook University, TAFE College and many other private colleges. Our medical facilities are good with many doctors and medical specialists in the area and two hospitals.
Sugar cane is the crop most seen close to the city, with the main industries including manufacturing, agriculture, mining and a large fishing fleet and related facilities.
Tourism of course plays a large part in the economic structure of the city and the related businesses needed to service that sector.

We love it up here in our Tropical Paradise.
